# Fleet and Vehicle Dashboards

See where things stand, then open a vehicle for a closer look.

The fleet dashboard brings together your fleet map, vehicle status counts, today's activity, recent journeys, and recent events. New accounts also have onboarding prompts to help complete setup.

## Onboarding Wizard

If your account setup isn't complete, the dashboard shows a progress bar and step-by-step prompts:

1. **Verify your email** — Confirm your email address
2. **Add your first vehicle** — Register a vehicle to track
3. **Choose a subscription plan** — Select a plan that fits your fleet
4. **Set up GPS tracking** — Add a GPS device to your vehicle

Each step includes an action button that takes you directly to the right page. The progress bar updates as you complete each step.

## Fleet Overview

Use the dashboard to answer three questions: which vehicles are reporting, what work has been recorded today, and which events need attention.

- **Fleet map:** positions for vehicles with a reported location. Vehicles without a device, or whose device has never reported, do not appear on the map.
- **Status breakdown:** moving, idling, parked, and offline vehicles, alongside vehicles without a device.
- **Activity summaries:** distance, journey counts, and recorded events for the displayed period.
- **Recent journeys and events:** starting points for investigating a specific vehicle or alert.

Dashboard summaries refresh periodically. Check the displayed update time and the individual vehicle's location timestamp when making a time-sensitive decision. A map marker can represent the last known position of an offline tracker.

## A Daily Fleet Check

1. Review offline vehicles and vehicles without devices; establish whether they should be reporting.
2. Open vehicles with unexpected movement, idling, or alerts.
3. Review recent journeys for the activity you expected.
4. Use **Reports** on the account page for a filtered, exportable view of the period.

## Fleet Dashboard and Vehicle Dashboard

The **fleet dashboard** is the overview across vehicles you can access. Open a vehicle to focus on its latest location, device state, driver assignment, and recent activity. Open that vehicle's **Analytics** tab when you want a dashboard built around chosen metrics and a reporting period.

You do not need to create a fleet dashboard to start viewing your vehicles. Create and attach the vehicles and devices first; the overview uses their available data. Custom chart creation happens in vehicle Analytics, where users with editing permission can save widgets and layouts.

## Reading the Dashboard Without Misinterpreting It

Check the account context, reporting period, and update timestamp before comparing values. Fleet counts can include a vehicle without a position while the map cannot plot it. A recent event is a received record, and a current sensor value is the latest available reading rather than a guarantee of continuous measurement. Open the underlying vehicle or journey when you need the detail behind a summary.
