# Share a Vehicle’s Live Location

Let someone follow a vehicle for a while, with access you can end at any time.

Share one vehicle's location with a recipient who does not need a Fleetr account. Anyone who has the link can open it, so choose its label and duration deliberately.

## Create a Tracking Link

1. Open the vehicle's sharing controls and choose **Share Live Location**.
2. Choose **Live location** or **Current trip**.
3. For live location, choose **15 minutes**, **30 minutes**, **1 hour**, **8 hours**, or **Until I turn it off**.
4. Review the optional label. It is prefilled with the registration; replace or clear it if you do not want that registration shown to the recipient.
5. Create the link and send it to the intended recipient.

**Current trip** is available only when Fleetr has an open trip for the vehicle. Its link stops working when that trip ends, with a maximum lifetime of 12 hours if a trip-end report never arrives. It does not carry over to the next trip.

## Stop Sharing

Open **Sharing**, find the active link, and stop sharing when access is no longer needed. Timed links expire automatically. **Until I turn it off** has no automatic expiry, so revoke it explicitly.

A sharing link provides a location view; it does not give the recipient access to your account management screens. Sharing also does not make an offline device report more frequently. Check the position timestamp before treating it as current.

## Choose Live Location or Current Trip

For example, use **Current trip** for an active delivery and **1 hour** for a short monitoring window. If Current trip is unavailable, Fleetr has not identified an open trip; choose a timed share if that meets your needs.

## What to Tell the Recipient

The recipient opens the link in a browser without joining your account. Ask them to check the displayed location time. If the link expires or you revoke it, they need a new link to regain access. Anyone they forward the active link to can also open it, so send it only to the intended people.

Use the **Sharing** page to review links and stop those no longer needed. Revoking a link prevents further access through that link; it cannot remove a screenshot or information someone already saved.
