Analytics, Widgets, and Dashboard Templates

Build a dashboard around the questions that matter to your fleet.

The vehicle's Analytics tab is a configurable dashboard of charts and summary values. Use it to explore a vehicle's recorded activity over time; use account Reports for fleet-wide tables and downloads.

What's Tracked

• Total distance driven over a period
• Driving hours and idle time
• Recorded fuel consumption and fuel level, where the device supplies usable readings
• Overspeeding events with location and time
• Driving score based on harsh braking, acceleration, and cornering events
• Device telemetry available for the selected vehicle

The metric choices depend on the data available for that vehicle. A tracker without a fuel sensor cannot supply a fuel-level history simply because you add a fuel widget. Empty results and missing readings should not be interpreted as zero consumption or zero activity.

Add and Arrange Widgets

1. Open the vehicle's Analytics tab and choose the reporting period.
2. If you have permission to edit the vehicle, select Edit, then Add widget.
3. Enter a title and search the Metric picker for the signal you want.
4. Choose one of the aggregations offered for that metric, such as total, average, maximum, count, or latest value.
5. Choose a Line, Bar, or Stat display and a width from quarter to full.
6. Review the preview and save the widget.
7. Arrange or resize widgets in edit mode, then use Save when finished.

Choose an aggregation that answers your question: total distance for usage, maximum speed for a peak, or the latest reading for a current sensor value. Check the units shown with the metric. If saving the layout fails, the screen displays an error; retry before assuming the arrangement was stored.

Templates and Reset

Built-in dashboard templates include Vehicle Health, Fuel & Efficiency, and Driver Behaviour. Use the reset controls to select a starting arrangement.

You can also save a dashboard as a named template, import a template file, export a saved template, rename it, and apply it to This vehicle or All vehicles in this account, subject to your permissions.

Applying a template replaces the selected vehicles' widgets and layout. Review the scope first, and save the current layout as a template if you want to reuse it later. Template changes do not delete the vehicles' recorded readings or journeys.

Create a Distance and Trip Dashboard

1. Open a vehicle, select Analytics, and choose the period you want to review.
2. Enter edit mode and add a Distance Covered widget with Sum aggregation and a Line or Bar display.
3. Add Total Trips with Count aggregation and a Stat display for the trip total.
4. Add Drive Time with Sum to see recorded journey duration, remembering that journey duration can include stops.
5. Arrange the widgets and save the layout.
6. Compare the same vehicle and dates in Vehicle usage if you need a downloadable report.

Choose the Right Metric and Calculation

Use the picker as the authority for a metric's available calculations. Sensor counters such as total engine hours need different interpretation from a per-trip amount: adding every cumulative counter reading usually does not represent hours worked. A latest-value statistic also answers a different question from a historical total.

Edit, Duplicate, or Remove a Widget

Enter edit mode and open the relevant widget controls. Edit the title, metric, calculation, display type, or width to change what it shows. Duplicate a widget when you want a second view of the same metric, such as a chart alongside a summary statistic. Remove a widget when it is no longer useful; removing the display does not erase recorded vehicle data.

Check the saved view after leaving edit mode. If the metric has no readings for the period, changing the chart type will not fill that gap. Confirm the selected vehicle, device capability, and period first.

Create and Reuse a Dashboard Template

1. Build and save the layout you want to reuse.
2. Open the template controls, enter a descriptive template name, and save the current dashboard as a template.
3. Choose the saved template and review Apply to: this vehicle or all vehicles in the account.
4. Apply it only after reviewing the replacement scope.
5. Open another affected vehicle and check that the chosen metrics have data for its devices.

Use Export template to download a saved configuration. To reuse an exported file, choose Import a template, select the template file, optionally supply a name, and import it before applying it. You can rename or delete saved templates from the template controls. Deleting a saved template is different from deleting a vehicle's recorded data.

Template files use JSON, with a maximum import size of 1 MB. Import a file exported by Fleetr and check any validation errors before retrying. A template transfers dashboard configuration, not the source vehicle's readings or access permissions.

Using Analytics

Use these insights to:

• Identify vehicles with high idle time (wasting fuel)
• Spot drivers who frequently overspeed
• Plan maintenance based on mileage
• Optimise routes to reduce unnecessary driving
